yadda, yadda, yadda

I'm not too interested in writing a full post so I'll resort to bullet points. that's really what my life is anyway: bullet points

1. John Mayer concert last Monday: so good. we were swooning. that was my fourth JM concert and by far my favorite. and he sang free-fallin' just for me. I heart John.

2. got sick last week but tried to deny it and ran myself into the ground: had a slumber party in Park City, went to the fireworks for the 24th, went to a baseball game, golfing, hair appointment, demolition derby (it got a little rainy), go, go ,go....

3. learned the error of my ways Sunday morning in the emergency room hooked to an iv with morphine

4. spent Monday and Tuesday at home

5. Phil and Marilyn came into town (no baby yet...)

6. will attempt a softball game tonight

p.s. don't forget to watch SYTYCD-final 6 tonight!

EVOLUTION

I love being spontaneous-just letting my days and evenings evolve. It doesn't always work and it doesn't always happen, but when it does happen and when it does work, it's the best! My last two Saturdays have been a little like that. It all kicked off with a small-town date for the Oakley Rodeo on the 4th with my friend Jordan and then the adventures began. I woke up the next morning to go golfing (please notice the ball still on the ground in one pic. not a practic swing)with some friends, which turned into going to the batting cages, which turned into going to the pool, which turned into getting a yummy dinner with a friend, which turned into gabbing the night away while making cake pops, (so DELICIOSO!) which turned into going on a mission to pass out said cake-pops to various friends the next night, which turned into staying up late listening to a christmas album and celebrity-morphing our pictures. What? I LOVED it. The only thing planned was golf and the weekend took off from there. Fast forward to this past weekend. The only thing on the agenda was the Journey concert on Friday night. Then it turned into staying up super late chit chatting with new friends which turned into getting up at 5 AM to go up the canyon to the lake to wakeboard (which was FREEZING!), which turned into having our favorite lunch back in the valley, which turned into going to some friends' softball game, which turned into going to the pool, which turned into going to the Bees Baseball game, which turned into planning my Sunday School lesson at Jocelyn's house while another batch of cake-pops was being made. Two great weekends in a row. I hope they keep on coming.

The Usual Suspects

So most of you have realized that I spend a lot of time with my girlfriends. Most of my posts are about somewhere we've been or some activity we've participated in or some silly adventure that we've had. Recently, I've (we've) received a lot of grief about being in an "exclusive girls club" and not spending any time with boys. This may or may not be a fair statement but regardless, I absolutely adore my girlfriends and here are a few reasons why:

Jocelyn:
1. Joc is in it to win it. No matter what she does, it's all the way. She filled in for our softball game last week and she was in the game 100%. She was so nervous but when she got out there she was determined to make the plays and she did. Anything we plan or do, (tie-dye, rodeo, concerts, classes, costa rica, etc. ) Joc is committed and I totally admire that.

2. Joc is what you see is what you get. Sorry to be cliche but it's the best way to describe it. She's patient and kind but don't be an idiot. She'll call you out on it. There's no pretenses, no faccade with Joc. She's very genuinely Jocelyn.

3. "Jawzaline" is laid-back and easy going but she doesn't take a back seat. She can go with the flow but she doesn't get lost in the crowd. Jocelyn is one cool cat.

Molly:
1. Molly is a wonderful example. She's always very aware of what's going on and in tune with those around her. She's always striving for ways to be better and more loving and more forgiving. She has a knack of keeping things in perspective and not getting caught up in the little things.

2. She's hilarious. Molly has a reputation for being conservative, which she is to a degree, but girl can let loose. She can crack jokes and be crazy with the best of them. I love that I know this side of her and anyone else who does should consider themselves lucky.

3. Molly is my girl. She's the one who I can talk to at midnight or be a sounding board when I need to vent. She's thoughtful and understanding and just plain awesome.

Kim:
1. Kim is my little Lupe. She has an enthusiasm and excitement that is infectious. She is a great addition to any adventure. You can't help but smile and laugh when Kim is around. She has always got something going on--some plan or idea of something to do-never a dull moment with Lupe. and the boys love her :)

2. She's always willing to help out--I feel like I could ask her for anything. She's definitely there when you need her.

3. love playing softball with Kim (when she's not injured--dang those triathlons)

Mangs:
1. Ashley walks to the beat of her own drummer and it definitely adds to the spice of our adventures. She'll always say or do something unexpected that keeps us on our toes.

2. She will bust out these stories or one-liners that keep us rolling for hours.

3. Ash always wants to know that you're okay. She has a good heart and good intentions and would do antyhing you'd ask her to. Thanks Ash--you're a gem.

Hold Onto the Night

I am a big geek--a big geek who loves the 80s. I found out that Richard Marx was coming to Sandy and I just knew I had to go. No one was really on board with my awesome idea so until the day-of, it looked like I was going to go solo. But, thanks for my friend BC--I didn't have to go by myself and look sad and pathetic. Thanks, Bryan. Anyway--the concert was great--he played all of my old favorites (pretty much the entire Repeat Offender album) and some new ones that were really good. He also performed a few of the songs he's written for the likes of N'Sync and Keith Urban. I got a video clip of him singing Now and Forever. One of my best high school friends, Jerod, sang this at our high school talent show and the girls went nuts--so Jerod--the video is for you :) The best part of the evening was the sing-along to Right Here Waiting. I was secretly hoping that he would call me on stage to accompany him. I have the sheet music.
