Well hello 2008! I'm a little late to the party but at least I'm here. I've finally conceded to the idea of having a blog--of putting the little tidbits and happenings of my life out here on the interweb for all to see. :)
2007 recap:
So 2007 was a great year for me-I definitely have no complaints. I’ve kind of been all over the place but I guess that’s the life of a single gal :) In March, Phil & Marilyn moved into a new house so I flew home to help with the move & then went back a few weeks later to surprise Phil for his 60th birthday party. The entire family was able to come & we had a great time together-he didn’t expect it at all. I participated in the annual Duck Beach Extravaganza in May in North Carolina & then spent a few days in Washington DC with my sister, Emily. I joined a co-ed softball league in April and we had two seasons that lasted until October. In July, we gathered the entire clan again for a family vacation at beautiful Lake Ouachita, Arkansas where we had a little tango with Mother Nature & had to sneak in some lake time in between some serious & relentless rain. Later in the summer, I was called to be in the Relief Society Presidency leaving my cooshy job as the “secretary to the Bishopric”. I sent thank you cards & updated the callings board which meant NO meetings & NO committees. I guess it couldn’t last forever! The Relief Society has been very challenging but rewarding & I’m enjoying serving with the sisters of the ward. In August, took a quick weekend to Neon Canyon for a little canyoneering and rapelling. I just can’t resist Cougar football and, at the last minute, went to L.A. for the BYU-UCLA game in September. What a heartbreaker :( However, it was nice to see the mighty cougs beat the Utes and then exact their revenge on UCLA in the Vegas Bowl. I spent a quick weekend in St. George with the fam for the marathon in October (congrats to Les & Em for running!) & then spent a few days at Lake Powell enjoying the last bit of wakeboard weather. I concluded my travel schedule with a fantastic trip to the Big Apple. New York is absolutely beautiful in the Fall & we had a great time taking in the sights and seeing a couple shows. I joined a gospel choir for the holiday season & thoroughly enjoyed our week of performances of Handel’s Messiah-gospel style. It was a wonderfully fun experience & Gladys Knight had it right when she said us Mormons need a little more soul! My job has definitely evolved over the last year & I’m enjoying my work as an executive assistant to 2 partners & 2 principals & as the party planner. We just had our annual Christmas Party which marked the firm’s 5th anniversary. It was a big celebration & I had a total blast putting it together. I spent the holidays with the fam in Texas and loved the nice weather and my favorite BBQ. I closed out the year with an ever exciting "same-faces-different-venue" New Year's Eve Party downtown after enjoying some chips and salsa and chocolate cake with Jenny-Ann and Molly at Chilis. (Thanks Molly for picking me up at the airport) And that in a nutshell was my 2007.
Yeah!!! It's Nancy! I LOVE that you are starting a blog. I want to see all of it. You are such a fun girl and I LOVE this cute dress you're wearing. Hot mama.
I'm just a Texas girl livin' it up in Salt Lake City. I've got great friends and an awesome family and I'm convinced that almost anything can be an adventure. You can never have too many shoes and there is always room for ice cream.
